The Learning Tree Preschool Curriculum Overview

Themes & Projects

Monthly themes spark curiosity through hands-on projects:

  • Nature (planting seeds, weather charts)

  • Community (role-playing helpers like doctors and firefighters)

  • Animals (pet show-and-tell, animal habitats)

  • Festivals (crafts and stories from around the world)

Learning Areas

Balanced daily lessons build foundational skills playfully:

  • Literacy: Storytelling circles, phonics games with letter hunts, simple rhyming songs.

  • Numeracy: Counting games with toys, shape sorters, basic patterns with beads.

  • Arts: Finger painting, music with shakers and drums, free dance to rhythms.

  • Science: Simple experiments like mixing colors or sink/float tests in water play.

  • Social Skills: Group games for turn-taking, cooperative building with blocks.

Key Focus Areas

We weave these into every activity to nurture well-rounded growth:

  • Cultural Awareness: Celebrating Diwali (lamp crafts, rangoli), Holi (color play, water games), Christmas (tree decorations, carol sing-alongs), and Pongal (kolam designs, harvest stories) to honor diversity and traditions.

  • Life Skills: Hygiene routines (handwashing songs), dressing practice with buttons and zippers, sharing toys during circle time, basic problem-solving like "What if the tower falls?"

  • Moral Values: Stories like "The Giving Tree" for kindness, puppet shows on empathy and friendship, role-play for honesty and respect.

  • Emotional Intelligence: Feelings chart (happy, sad faces), breathing exercises for self-regulation, group hugs for comfort.
